Our History:
While the Capitol City Rifle Club (CCRC) has been around for almost 100 years, we really do not know how long the CCRC rifle team has been actually competing in the mid Michigan area. Some of our former teammates remember shooting in the 50’s down in the basement of Michigan State University’s Demonstration Hall.
We used to take road trips to away matches and some of the more memorable shooting venues include a wood stove heated Quonset building on Fort Custer and the basement of a Taxi Cab Garage in Battle Creek. What makes them memorable is that the wood stove didn’t heat so good and the snow always melted off the taxi’s and dripped down through the floor onto the shooting range and shooters below. Standard equipment in Battle Creek included a umbrella if it was snowing.
More recently we shared the range with the Looking Glass Rod and Gun Club and then when the Demmer Center opened up, we finally made it back home to MSU.
