Welcome
to the Captol City Rifle Club Rifle Team website!
OUR MISSION:
To promote the shooting sports by providing a fun, safe, and enriching environment for training and competition. In order to ensure future generations enjoy the shooting opportunities currently available, we are especially interested in new and inexperienced shooters. Expanding knowledge and education by training younger shooters is beneficial to the participants, the mentors or trainers, and the sport itself.
Competition shooting is a challenging pursuit that requires dedication, honesty, responsibility, intelligence, and integrity that has far reaching effects that do not stop at the firing line. Some of the best individuals on the face of the earth you will find shooting next to you on the competition line.
About Us:
We are a small winter indoor 22lr smallbore rifle team. We shoot competitively every week from December through April in the Central Michigan Rifle and Pistol League. Our team is composed of professional people that have very unique backgrounds. We have some shooters that have been on the team forever, and others who have shot in the past, did not shoot for a while for various reasons, and then rejoined a couple years later. We also have a few newbies that are just getting their feet wet. We keep in touch with our former shooters who have moved out of state and we are always on the lookout for new people with positive attitudes to join us on the firing line. Newbies are especially welcome!
What We Do:
Every fall, we start practicing for our winter indoor smallbore season. Once the season starts, every Tuesday we shoot at MSU Demmer starting at 4 pm. While different shooters can begin at various times, we need to be completed by 8 pm. Others that are unable to join us on Tuesday will shoot on other days and file their targets in the locker for scoring.
We shoot in the Central Michigan Rifle and Pistol league and we shoot against other teams that are from Ionia, Ithaca, Jackson, and Lansing. A couple of shooters from Kalamazoo are trying to organize a team and may be joining us shortly. All of our matches are “Postal” as opposed to a shoulder to shoulder match. Half way through the season, the Jackson team usually hosts a tournament at their home range.
